A brand new SPAR opened on Liverpool’s London Road combining a convenience store and cafe with a community hub in the up and coming Fabric District.
SPAR Monument Place launched in the busy Liverpool thoroughfare on Thursday 18th June combining a café style seating area selling hot and cold food alongside a comprehensive convenience store offer with a superb fresh food range.
Located at 103-115 London Road in the heart of the Liverpool Fabric District, the new 3,000-square-foot store is designed to be as much of a community social hub as it is a convenience store.
Heather Westhead, Labour councillor for the Brownlow Hill ward, which covers this part of the city centre, was on hand to cut the ribbon for the official opening of the store and officially welcome the multi-functional convenience store and social hub to the local neighborhood.
Alongside a robust fresh grocery selection, the site integrates an expansive café-style seating area. Customers can enjoy a bean-to-cup experience via SPAR’s own “Cheeky Coffee” brand, paired with breakfast deals featuring fresh pastries and hot barms. The location also offers versatile lunch and evening menus, standard and premium meal deals, and integrated logistics support including external parcel lockers for DPD, Royal Mail, UPS, and Amazon.
Speaking at the grand opening, Store Owner and Manager Mo Merikhi said:
“It’s an up-and-coming road with a lot of regeneration, and I wanted to create something more than just a simple convenience store—to do something different. I want to develop a social hub to give something back to the community. You have students around here, office workers, single people, and many working away from home. The idea is to bring everybody together and make a place where people can come in and do their shopping, meet up, or chat with friends over a coffee.”
Councillor Heather Westhead added:
“It is fantastic to see this level of investment and business confidence in the Brownlow Hill ward. This new SPAR store doesn’t just offer excellent services and convenience to our residents and students; it is actively breathing new life into London Road, providing jobs, and creating a welcoming, modern space for the community to come together.”
On the launch day hundreds of locals called in to sample the new store and SPAR mascots entertained children with live music and in store activities and promotions throughout the day.
