The creative team that brought us Blind Tiger and Brooklyn Mixer has been at it again. Moloko, the latest and greatest addition to Liverpool’s nightlife scene, is set to launch in spectacular style on Friday 19th August and everyone’s invited to the party on St Peter’s Square. Better still, Moloko reinvents itself every morning as an all American diner, so on Saturday, when you’re feeling the after affects of the night before, you can head back to the scene of the crime for brunch.
Moloko is a fresh new concept designed to infuse the already thriving Liverpool leisure scene with a splash of neon and top it off with a hearty dollop of ice cream. This place doesn’t just serve cocktails. It serves hard shakes – brightly coloured, wondrous milkshake concoctions that look like something Willy Wonka might serve at a Christmas party, with the added kick some hard liquor. Perusing the shake menu you’re going to feel the way you did as a child when you heard the ice cream van coming and the accompaniment of fresh tunes from the hottest local DJs will get you dancing.
Moloko is also, undoubtedly, the most exciting place in the city for designated drivers. Shakes including Peanut Butter Jelly Time, The Girl Scout Cookie and Jaffa Quake Shake are all available soft or hard. With ingredients like cookie dough and blended jaffa cakes it might be advisable not to wear a belt when you visit. The biggest hit since the bar’s soft opening – the Moloko Twister Twist, designed to resemble the Twister ice lolly – is a blend of crushed ice and midori melon liqueur, magically swirled into ice cream and topped with strawberry candy whip, a big squish of strawberry jam and some fresh kiwi. On Friday 19th August the milkshake wizards at Moloko will be serving boozy cocktails from 6pm til late, on a long summer night of DJ’s and givaways to celebrate having officially landed.
The fun doesn’t stop when the sun comes up! An all-American brunch menu including blueberry buttermilk pancakes, homemade batter waffles, steak and eggs and a stellar selection of smoothies is available all day. Who says St Peter’s Square is only fun at night?
Peter Kane Moloko creator said:
“Moloko’s launch night is going to be huge. We’ve got some of Seel Street’s best DJ’s coming down to provide the soundtrack and plenty of givaways up for grabs, including the chance to win a Moloko table for the evening, with non-stop boozy shakes for you and 5 friends.
“Our aim with Moloko was to get people excited about their nights out by giving them something fresh and different to look forward to. We’ve done our best to recreate some of the magic of childhood but with an adult edge. You won’t find many places in Liverpool that make their own ice cream and serve it mixed with toffee sauce, fresh blueberries, golden rum and absolut berry vodka, amongst other things. Or where you can go back and do it all again in the daytime, with or without the booze, with the kids in tow and orders of buttermilk pancakes all round.”
