After celebrating its first birthday in March 2024, Hoggins Irish Pub, based in South Road, Waterloo, is already celebrating a busy first trading year. Part of the family-based Circle and Hen Group, which has established its own portfolio over the last five years, Hoggins has become known as a place to enjoy an Irish-themed pub experience, in contemporary surroundings. With a packed drinks menu to match, and a roster of live music to really lift the atmosphere, it is a place where ‘serious’ is reserved just for great, professional service.
South Road has developed a cosmopolitan reputation in Waterloo and Crosby as a destination for food, drink and entertainment. The area plays host to a range of bars, pubs and restaurants who all add to a mix which provides its own close-knit feel. The team behind Hoggins Irish Pub has decided to embrace its fresh trading year by embracing the continental feel the area enjoys once Spring is on its way. This small-but-unique venue wants to bring the sunshine feeling inside, by partially opening up the pub front when the weather brings much-needed warmth.
The team has also developed its own pizza menu with a twist – get ready for the Hoggins Potato Pizza! This fresh take on the traditional Italian snack, with its base adding potato to give a unique texture, and a range of tasty topping, it’s the perfect accompaniment to Hoggins extensive drinks menu, and just the ticket to add to a leisurely afternoon drink or packed evening out.
Lloyd, the spokesperson for Hoggins Irish Pub explains: “It took us a considerable amount of time to choose our space in South Road, and we are so glad we are now an established part of this vibrant area and its rich and varied pub and restaurant scene.
One thing that became really clear to us over the summer months of 2023 was how much the vibe changes when the weather lifts. As soon as a hint of sun arrives, it feels like the whole of South Road is transported into an almost Mediterranean location, and so we want to embrace that feeling. It is such a fantastic location, and is like a village within a city, with key transport links nearby, its unique cinema, and the beautiful beach just a short walk away. We noticed last summer that when you are on South Road in the sunshine, you really could be anywhere in the world – it has that international feel.
As for our new pizza range, I can only say that as a team we have definitely done our research, and there has been no shortage of us wishing to be tasters! Of course, the potato as an ingredient gives a nod to our Irish heritage, but we wanted to ensure that having a pizza which includes it is both unique and delicious. Our Hoggins Potato Pizza range is casual, tasty and laidback, just like us!
We look forward to welcoming everyone as we move towards Spring allowing us to embrace our fresh concept. Of course, we are keeping in place all of the elements of Hoggins which mean our clients return to us, but we also look forward to welcoming new guests who want to enjoy that outdoors feeling, with our brand new pizza menu on-hand to add to our extensive drinks menu and live entertainment.
