Liverpool Comedy Club is set to open the doors on a brand new season of shows on Saturday 3rd February, in a brand new, dedicated waterfront space. From next month this latest venture by Brendan Riley and Val Brady, the husband and wife team behind Southport Comedy Festival, will turn The Bentley Basement on Brunswick Street into the funniest place to be in Liverpool, every weekend.

Doors open at 6pm on Saturday 3rd, when guests will enjoy live music, dinner and the best in live comedy, all without the need to leave their seats.

The event began life four years ago, as Liverpool Comedy Cellar at The Magnet. 18 months ago it moved out of the basement, into the light, warranting a name change and becoming Liverpool Comedy Club at Camp and Furnace. Now, due to popular demand, the club has moved into its own permanent home. And what a home it is! The Bentley is a newly refurbished masterpiece of a venue, directly facing Liverpool’s World Heritage Site. Liverpool Comedy Club is situated downstairs, in The Bentley Basement adjoining Tom Hall’s Tavern. The commercial districts new home for comedy.

Brendan and Val are one of the best known couples on the comedy scene, throughout the Northwest and beyond. Brendan has worked as a stand-up comedian for over 25 years and performed all over the world, notably alongside household names such as Peter Kay, Michael McIntyre and Harry Hill, to name just a few. Meanwhile, Val has worked off stage as a comedy booker for Rawhide Comedy Club and others, as a promoter and even as an assistant producer for sell-out comedy plays at The Royal Court Liverpool. Collectively, this powerhouse of comedy clout is known professionally as Big Comedy UK and has produced Southport Comedy Festival for the past eight years.

Brendan Riley, director of Liverpool Comedy Club, said, “We’ll be booking the absolute cream of the international comedy circuit for Liverpool Comedy Club, every Saturday night from the beginning of February. By moving into our new home at The Bentley, we’re now able to offer our audience a better package than ever before as well, with live music, dinner, comedy and a drink all included in the ticket price.

“Of course, our audiences will get an authentically Liverpudlian experience too. Bookings will include the best of local talent on a regular basis and, well, the direct view of The Liver Buildings from our front door definitely adds to the ambience!”

Tickets for Liverpool Comedy Club are available now for £15 and meal packages for £25. Visit www.liverpoolcomedyclub.com or call 0151 236 4001.
