Mees Demolition Group, part of the Mees Group, has completed the demolition of the site for the proposed biggest development site in Liverpool. The scheme is set to be the largest City Centre residential development in Liverpool for 10 years; comprising a total of 1,308 Apartments over 5 individual Blocks ranging from 18-21 storeys with 682 on site car parking spaces together with commercial space.

Mees Demolition Group has removed over 1800 tons of brick and concrete from the site from what was originally the D P Watson Building. A further 200 ton of steel was also removed from the site which is over 700,000 sq ft in size and sits on the corner of Leeds Street and Vauxhall Road in the up and coming Pumpfields area of the city.

The plans for the site include apartments, town houses and commercial space. The towers will have communal facilities on the base with roof gardens on top of the towers. There are also plans for a large retail unit fronting onto Leeds Street. The development, to be completed by Mees Property Group, could start as early as Spring 2018 if approved.

Thomas Mee, said “This site, often referred to as Via Verde, is the largest on the new northern boundary that is creating space for the expansion of the business district as well as providing a range of residential properties. My team pride ourselves on dismantling and clearing sites of all sizes on time and this vast site was no different with us coming in on time so the next stage of development can take place.”

Mees where on site for a total of 8 weeks clearing the site ready for development. Using the latest technologies and equipment to ensure that disruption in this busy city centre area was kept to a minimum during the clearing of the site.
