A brand new bar is set to open in Waterloo this week! Vanessa’s Bar will launch in South Road on Wednesday 16th April from 11am onwards.
Former accountant Vanessa Lovegrove began refurbishing Vanessa’s Bar with husband Stuart in November last year. The look is distinctly speakeasy with rich red furnishings, glimmers of gold and wood, and striking statement flooring.
Owner Vanessa says: “The refurb of the bar went really well. My husband and I bought the building in May last year, but refurbed the 2 flats above the venue first, before embarking on the bar fit out. The ground floor wasn’t in a great state when we bought it and it had previously been a children’s party centre, but prior to that it had a long history of being a bar (Bobbi/ Susanna’s/ Joanna’s).
We have been lucky to work with a great contractor called Daniel James Interiors Ltd who helped us every step of the way. Daniel James has a great pedigree in the hospitality sector and has designed some amazing sites in the North West. From Habbibi in Manchester to the range of Juniper sites, including Hale and Stockton Heath.”
The refurb has seen a new DJ booth installed as well as a state-of-the-art sound system and mood lighting. There are also different zones within the venue. depending on your mood. There are quieter and more chill areas, or if the mood takes you there is a dance floor towards the back of the bar.
Vanessa adds: “We are primarily a cocktail/ wine bar but we will be serving a menu of small plates designed to complement the drinks. We will also be serving sandwiches in the day, a selection of salads and of course Scouse! Small plates include chicken wings/ lamb koftas/ croquettes/ grilled halloumi/ arancini and a selection of cheese and charcuterie boards.
We can’t wait to open our doors to the people of Waterloo, Crosby and beyond. The team has worked really hard to create a place where service and good quality drinks and food are top priority and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do!”
Vanessa’s Bar will be open Sunday to Thursday, 11am-Midnight; and Friday to Saturday from 11am-2am.
Food will be served from midday until late daily.
