Here’s What To Do To Make This Redwall Abbey LEGO Set A Reality, Based On The Book Series & TV Show From Liverpool Author, Brian Jacques
Beloved Liverpudlian author, Brian Jacques, was raised in Kirkdale, and went on to craft the iconic fantasy world of Redwall Abbey, beloved by many from around the world. There is now a short time window of opportunity to turn this globe-spanning franchise, from Liverpool, into a LEGO Set.
The books follow the adventures of fluffy anthropomorphic creatures such as mice, badgers, squirrels, otters, moles and voles that inhabit Redwall Abbey and its surrounding pasture. All the while fending off those that seek to do harm in the form of rats, ferrets and snakes, to name a few. The wide and varied stories take place across the realm of Mossflower, featuring generations of creatures both before and after the founding of Redwall Abbey itself.
The world of Redwall spans 22 books, published from 1986 until the final book was published posthumously in 2011, just shy of 3 months after Brian passed away at the age of 71.
Brian Jacques was also a beloved BBC Radio Merseyside presenter, hosting his regular Sunday show, ‘Jakestown’, and retiring from broadcasting in 2006.
Peter Eric Lang, a local Historian and qualified Tour Guide from The Liverpudlian, and a fan of the Redwall franchise, said: “I grew up reading the Redwall Abbey books and watching the TV Show. They have had a profound impact on myself and many others. Through Jacques’ rich characters and world building there are many lessons that can be drawn from the stories he told; they explore the complexity of life, from individuality and courage, to standing up for your beliefs and what is right no-matter how great the danger.”
Peter, who is hoping to highlight Liverpool’s cultural benefits for the success of this LEGO Set, added: “It would be wonderful if we could manage to support in bringing this Redwall Abbey LEGO Set to life, and in turn help put a tangible spotlight on an incredibly popular, yet often overlooked, part of Liverpool’s creative heritage from a beloved local author.”
How To Make The Redwall Abbey LEGO Set Real
The proposed Redwall Abbey LEGO Set needs 2,500 more signatures by the 30th of September 2025, a total of 5,000, to support in making this potential LEGO Set of a Liverpool-born franchise, a reality, in doing so it extends the voting time threshold so that once it reaches 10,000 total signatures it will move forward into the creative process so that it would become a set available on shop shelves around the world.
How The Process Works
The way it works on LEGO Ideas, which is an official hub for community-based LEGO Set suggestions, involves a proposal being put forward of a LEGO Set to be submitted, with members of the LEGO Ideas community (those who have made an account) then able to click the “Support Idea” button as a way to vote for the Set to become a reality, and as a way to boost it for fellow members to see it more visibly.

- 100 Supporters — COMPLETED.
- 1,000 Supporters — COMPLETED.
- 5,000 Supporters — 2,486/5,000 (49.2%).
- 10,000 Supporters.
- Review Process by LEGO.
- Final Design.
- The LEGO Set is released on the shelves.
Idea Submitted, which has been achieved, along with the milestones of 100 supporters, 1,000 supporters and they are currently at 2,490 out of 5,000 necessary supporters in the next step. Achieving this is the last hurdle before the necessary 10,000 supporters, which would then lead to the product being reviewed by LEGO, turned into a final design, and then the LEGO Set being released on shelves around the world.
A Closer Look At The Proposed LEGO Set
The LEGO Ideas user responsible for this suggestion, known as ‘Rocking Chair’, put forward the following elements to be included in the proposed LEGO Set. Attention has been paid to components such as the mighty outer walls to withstand invasion from the evils of the world, The Great Hall, including the famed tapestry of Martin the Warrior, after whom a book is named after this legendary character.
They also propose including the Cavern Hole, which is the official Redwall eatery and bakery where many a feast has been held. Also included are the dormitories for the residents of Redwall, the abbey pond which would include a variety of fish. Alongside the bell tower which houses the great Joseph Bell, which is used to ring out celebratory messages or warnings to the inhabitants of Mossflower.
Brian Jacques’ Redwall Abbey was adapted into a television show from 1999 until 2002 by Canadian animation studio, Nelvana. Running for 3 series with a total of 39 episodes, each lasting over the 20 minute mark, providing more than 800 minutes (or around 13 hours) worth of content for fans of the franchise, bringing the books to life and becoming a fond childhood memory for many.
